January 9

Basic Emergency Medical Training

Springfield Technical Community College,

8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Mondays and Wednesdays, with 9 Thursday evenings or Friday mornings and 1 Saturday morning. Ends 04/11/12, 143 hours.

PREREQUISITES

EMT students must be certified in the following:

1.      ECS-100: Introduction to ICS – www.usfa.fema.gov/training/nfa/independent/    

2.      FEMA IS-700: NIMS: An Introduction – http://training.fema.gov/   

After reading the available material on each site, the student must complete the test and print the certificate and/or the e-mail indicating successful completion. A copy of the certificate or e-mail must be presented at the first class meeting.

One of the required course texts, BLS for Healthcare Providers, by the American Heart Association is to be read before the first class meeting.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association, and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the Association.

Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration, at least one week prior to the beginning of class. Make checks payable to Human Services Training Consultants, Inc. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if requesting a receipt or confirmation. Cancellations will be made by telephone during the hours 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to pre-paid registrants. All refund requests must be submitted in writing or in person. A 15 percent administrative fee will be retained unless an HSTC error is involved or cancellation of a class occurs. A $25.00 service charge will be assessed for any check returned to HSTC by a bank. Check cashing privileges will be revoked for any student having checks returned twice by his/her bank. NO CREDITS WILL BE AWARDED IF THE PROGRAM FEE IS NOT PAID. For details, contact HSTC offices at 413-737-0038.
